Thorndon Park Golf Club
The equipment
Toro Lynx central control system
The background
In 2008, course manager Robert George oversaw the installation of a Toro irrigation system across the 240-acre 18-hole course in Essex. The system featured 855S sprinklers back-to-back on the greens and surrounds, T7s on the tees, with a Toro Site Pro Central Control in charge of everything – a system that served them well for over a decade.
The brief
When the club’s PC tower began to decline, Robert had the opportunity to find a system with increased technological capabilities with more available information and more programming options, which is when he turned to Reesink Hydro-Scape’s Robert Jackson for a solution.
The results
What ensued was a simple switch to Toro Lynx Central Control.
Robert found the intuitive interface, customisable system, reporting and map components, access to weather information, pump stations and sprinklers, and ‘live’ reaction between the control system and decoders and adjustments to be “absolutely perfect”.
The conclusion
Thorndon Golf Club has been using Toro machinery since 2007 and has not had an issue in all the time, so for Robert picking Toro again was an easy sell. It was in fact, the first time he didn’t need to go through a competitor comparison.
And the customer satisfaction has been across the board from the “quality of the machines, evident in their reliability and the results they produce”, “the impressive and faultless service and back-up” he receives from Reesink Turfcare and Toro irrigation “doing exactly what [he] wants it to do”, it’s no wonder Thorndon Park is a “very happy” Toro Total Solution customer.
Choosing Toro irrigation has made my life easier. Making alterations, changes and adjustments is simple and it once again confirms my faith in the quality and technology of Toro.
