Toro refit transforms irrigation at Hamilton Golf Club

The background

When suffering from an excess of wet areas on the course, Hamilton Golf Club, in Scotland, needed to get to the root of the problem. It wasn’t clear if the issues were caused by ineffective irrigation or drainage so the club turned to Applied Irrigation for advice.

The brief

The club’s irrigation system was overdue an upgrade and Applied Irrigation recommended a full system refit to solve the problem. Callum Oliphant from the irrigation consultants advised the club to go with Toro and vouched for it as the best system on the market for the job.

A new system comprising Toro Lynx Control and Infinity Sprinklers system was installed and course manager Bruce Cruickshank was delighted with the entire process and outcome.

The results

The incredible results are a testament to the quality of the product, says Bruce. The technology and quality the Toro Lynx controller and Infinity sprinklers have got the course into to a far more professional condition and the level of control the team are now able to have over everything is impressive.

Being able to adjust the sprinkler height during windy conditions and having the facility to apply water coverage remotely – especially during the 2018 heatwave – have been particular highlights.

The conclusion

Since having Toro irrigation on board, Bruce and the members at the club have seen “a definite improvement to the course” which has reassured the club in making their first investment in Toro.
The feedback from club members has been entirely positive and the results have helped increase membership.
